Disclaimer

Some brochs were built with military defensive purpose, and as such can be situated in extremely dangerous areas, such as on the edge of cliffs and ravines. Additionally, these are Iron Age structures, most of them in ruins, and they are extremely hazardous, with crumbling stone walls and hidden chambers. Existing walls, lintels, and passages could collapse at any time. The information here is provided free but it is your responsibility to ensure its accuracy, ensure your own safety, and acquire permissions for access where necessary. Accessing brochs is done entirely at your own risk.

Your Safety and Responsibility

Walking is an outdoor activity that comes with known and inherent risks, including the danger of personal injury or death. By following any route or information provided on this website, you are participating voluntarily and accept these risks. You are solely responsible for your own safety, the safety of your party (including children and dogs), and for assessing your own medical and physical condition to determine your suitability for a walk.

Accuracy of Information

While great care has been taken in the preparation and checking of walk descriptions, the countryside is constantly changing. The publishers of this website cannot accept responsibility for errors or omissions, or for changes to the details provided. These changes may include:
Diversion orders or withdrawal of permissions for paths.
Changes in terrain (e.g., mud, erosion, fallen trees, livestock).
Adverse weather conditions making paths slippery, boggy, or impassable.
Route descriptions are intended to be used in conjunction with a relevant, up-to-date Ordnance Survey (OS) map and a compass or GPS device. Always follow official signs and the Countryside Code, and do not trespass on private land.
